What is Tongue - Tie?

TOT

A tongue-tie is also known as a restricted lingual frenulum or tethered oral tissue (TOT). The frenum is the line or band of tissue under the tongue  and we all have one. It connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth. In some of us however, the frenum is too tight or too short that it restricts the movement of the tongue and may iprevent it from resting against the roof of the mouth where it acts as a natural expander for the palate.

Experienced Airway Centered Team of Professionals

A tongue-tie used to be thought of as something that only affected babies and breastfeeding. We now know that the "tongue" is one of the most critical organs in our bodies with the capability to regulate and shape our orofacial structure and musculature. When the tongue is prevented or restricted from being suctioned against the roof of the mouth, we compromise our ability to breathe well, eat well, and sleep well.

We have a team of Airway Centric Professionals composed of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, Airway Centric and Laser/Functional Frenuloplasty Certified Dentist, Airway Centric Orthodontist, Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and Body workers to achieve  optimal oral health and holistic overall health.
